The notification for SSC Combined graduate Level Examination has come out and the countdown to exam date has already begun. Thanks to the different Covid Waves, everyone is trapped within their home walls for past few years.

The coaching institutes are also closed and the risks associated with attending physical classes are too high.

So, the obvious question that arises is how can one start their preparation for SSC CGL Exam from one’s home?

Now, if someone is just beginning their preparation for coveted SSC CGL exam, then the plan and preparation strategy matters a lot. Because you not only have to study a lot but also keep your passion and interest alive while staying at home.

SSC CGL Preparation From Home Plan for Beginners

Though the notification is out, still there is ample of time for even the beginners to crack this exam subjected only to condition that they work hard and do not lose track of their goals.

Before starting your SSC CGL or CHSL preparation, it is necessary to prepare yourself for the road ahead. How can you do it? Read below:

Go through the Syllabus: It is very necessary that you have complete knowledge of what you have to study and how much you have to study.

Syllabus for Tier 1:

  • General Reasoning
  • General Awareness
  • Quantitative Aptitude
  • English Comprehension

Descriptive Paper for Tier 3:

  • Any topic from current affairs or general awareness on which you have to write an essay of about 250 words.

Previous Year Papers: I know it sounds strange that without even touching the syllabus or doing any study why am I asking you to go through the previous year papers.

The reason is that while studying at home, especially on your own, you do not have an idea about the type of questions being asked in the paper.

When you are attending classes, the teacher does this job for you.

So, when you are self-studying for an exam like SSC CGL or CHSL, you need to get an idea about the kind of questions being asked in the paper because the syllabus is very huge and time is very less.

This will ensure that you do not waste your time on unnecessary topics. And you can study smartly.

Practice the Previous year question papers thoroughly and get a clear idea of kind of questions being asked along with its difficulty level.

Preparation for Tier 1 & Tier 2: Once you have a clear idea of questions being asked, pick up subjects and respective topics according to your strength and weakness.

For example, some students would be weak in Mathematics while others would face difficulty in English. So, accordingly, you need to devote your time for such subjects.

If you are weak in Mathematics, then give more time to strengthen it. But, side by side study other subjects also, like Reasoning and English.

For General Awareness, you need to follow the current affairs, because now a days almost 5-6 questions are asked in the Tier 1 of SSC CGL Exam.

Golden Rule: The golden rule to clear any government exam or some other kind of exam is to practice and practice till you achieve perfection.

You need to learn the concepts related to syllabus by heart and then practice them five to six times to master them and to ensure that you have achieved good command over the questions.

When you are at home, give maximum time to practicing questions. This will increase your speed of solving questions and will also boost your confidence.
