About SBI CLERK Exam

State Bank of India conducts the exam of SBI CLERK regularly to elect eligible candidates for Junior Associate (Customer Support & Sales) in clerical cadre in branches of State Bank of India all over the country. The post of SBI Clerk is well sought after considering the perks of working in the banking sector.

  • PAY SCALE: The starting Basic Pay is Rs.13075/- (Rs11765/-plus two advance increments admissible to graduates).
  • PROBATION PERIOD: The newly appointed Junior Associates under SBI CLERK Exam would be on probation for a Minimum period of 6 months.

Eligibility for SBI Clerk exam

Nationality / Citizenship

A candidate must be either:

  • A Citizen of India or
  • A subject of Nepal or
  • A subject of Bhutan or
  • A Tibetan Refugee who came over to India before 1st January 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India or
  • A person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania (formerly Tanganyika and Zanzibar), Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.


Age limit for SBI Clerk Exam


The minimum and the maximum limit of the age of candidates who can apply for the SBI Clerk Exam is: 20-28 years of age.

Educational Qualification for SBI Clerk Exam

  • The minimum qualification for SBI Clerk exam is: Graduation
  • Those who are in the Final Year/Semester of their Graduation may also apply provisionally for SBI Clerk Exam subject to the condition that, if called for interview, they have to produce proof of having passed the graduation examination.
  • Note:
  • The candidates applying for vacancies of a particular State for SBI Clerk exam, should be proficient (reading, writing, speaking and understanding) in the specified opted local language of that State.
  • Candidates who produce 10th or 12th standard mark sheet/ certificate evidencing having studied the specified opted local language will not be required to undergo the language test.
